The Role
As a Senior System Safety Engineer, you will support the safety of General Motors’ low-voltage (12V) power distribution system from concept through validation. You will operate in a fast-paced, highly collaborative engineering environment where safety is designed in—not added later. You will apply system safety processes and analytical methods throughout development to ensure low‑voltage architectures meet functional safety requirements across all operating, environmental, and real‑world customer usage conditions.
You will serve as a technical authority for system safety, translating complex hazards into clear, actionable safety requirements aligned with ISO 26262 and internal GM safety policies. You will partner closely with cross‑functional engineering teams to embed safety into system architecture, hardware, software, and validation strategies, helping ensure GM’s electrified platforms deliver safe, robust, and reliable performance at scale.
What You'll Do
- Perform hazard analysis and risk assessments for systems utilizing low-voltage power, and define safety concepts, operating modes, and mitigation strategies
- Apply functional safety analysis techniques – including functional interface analysis, fault tree analysis, dependent failure analysis, software safety analysis, and hardware integrity analysis – to derive and allocate safety requirements
- Collaborate with hardware, software, service, release, manufacturing, and advanced engineering teams to ensure safety requirements are understood, feasible, and properly implemented
- Provide expert system safety guidance to product engineering teams to support timely resolution of development, validation, and launch-related safety issues
- Lead informal and formal peer reviews of safety work products, and develop defensible safety cases for high-voltage power distribution systems in accordance with automotive industry standards and GM system safety policies
- Analyze complex field issues, assess risk and severity, and support containment and resolution strategies for safety-related concerns
- Communicate system safety processes, expectations, and best practices across the organization to promote consistent execution

Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications)
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science, Aeronautical Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience)
- 5+ years of experience in the development of low voltage systems, or electrical and electromechanical systems and components
- Strong understanding of system verification and validation processes, including requirements traceability and test strategy development
- Familiarity with hardware design principles, software interfaces, and failure modes at both component and system levels
- Solid foundation in engineering theory related to power electronics, electromechanical mechanisms, and control systems
- Knowledge of serial data communication protocols and their application in embedded systems
- Willingness to travel between Warren Technical Center and Milford Proving Grounds as required

Electronic Control Units (ECUs) are central to a wide range of control functions and are undergoing significant technological advancements in the global automotive market. Our team is looking for a creative and highly energetic ECU Hardware Requirements & Specifications Engineer who can lead the development and management of hardware requirements, low-level software definition and specification for ECU Hardware Component Technical Requirements Specifications (CTRS).
The ideal candidate will have experience with Automotive Embedded Control Systems including ECU circuit-level design, semiconductor and microprocessor application, low-level software design and diagnostics. Additional experience with implementing high Automotive Safety Integrity Level (ASIL) designs and applications is desirable.
The candidate will drive innovation, facilitate effective communication, and inspire enthusiasm within the team. We expect you to demonstrate leadership qualities, actively champion change, possess keen business intuition, and strategically address systemic challenges. The Role:
In this role you are expected to have a high level of technical proficiency in developing and managing requirements and providing technical leadership to perform ongoing development, maintenance, and configuration management of CTRS requirements that support various build-to-spec and build-to-print ECU designs across GM’s diverse portfolio of vehicles and electrical architectures (including electrification / Electric Vehicle ECU designs). Your contributions will play a key role in enabling standardized hardware designs with a focus on providing common solutions and seamless software implementations across multiple vehicle platforms. Your role will interface across various GM engineering disciplines as well as external engineering entities to obtain needed information for the requirements development work.
What You’ll Do:
- Perform technical requirements update of existing and develop new ECU hardware electrical and functional interface definitions – including interactions with interfacing vehicle electronic devices and low-level software.
- Support semiconductor & microprocessor functional safety activities in developing requirements to meet safety manual use-case implementations.
- Standardize I/O interfaces in hardware requirements and drive commonization of components into ECU hardware designs.
- Solicit/identify/create new embedded controller requirement definitions from various GM stakeholders - such as vehicle, electrical/controller architecture, infra-structure software, low-level software, diagnostic and hardware design responsible teams.
- Support weekly requirement review and change control meetings that review/approve technical work performed in the update of existing and development of new requirements.
- Perform CTRS compilation and build activities from common and controller specific requirements in support of product team sourcing activities and post-sourcing design change documentation.
- Identify and implement mechanisms for traceability between internal/external CTRS requirements and their verification activities.

We are looking for a Staff Engineer with an extensive engineering background, experience using a variety of developer tools and technologies, and who is passionate about developer productivity. As a leader on this team, we are looking for someone who cares deeply about the technical development of other engineers on the team and can effectively balance the needs and priorities of the business, our users, and the growth of our engineers.

The Team
The AV Developer Tools team owns AI-native tools and services that enable others to deploy consistent and secure agentic workflows with visibility into their usage, both hosted and on-device. We are part of the AI Cloud and Developer Productivity organization and own building blocks that allow customers to easily instrument their products to debug, optimize, reach, and maintain production level reliability and availability. This includes setting best practices and providing opinionated drop-in libraries and recommendations for service instrumentation. As a Senior Ad Ops Engineer within the Marketing Applied Sciences organization, you will be responsible for architecting and developing advanced, well managed, and reusable data products that support marketing activation, analytics, and insights. You will work extensively with marketing platform data, partner data feeds, and non-standard data formats to build reliable, scalable data pipelines and storage solutions. This role requires deep hands-on experience with marketing ecosystems, digital advertising data structures, and agency or platform-side operations.
You will also be responsible for implementing automated data quality and validation frameworks, including LLM-powered agents focused solely on data consistency, anomaly detection, and schema integrity. This includes integrating these validation systems directly into production pipelines to ensure accuracy, observability, and compliance across all marketing datasets.
Additionally, the Senior Ad Ops Engineer will integrate with third-party marketing platforms and APIs, support data discovery across inconsistent partner datasets, and build solutions that provide clean, trustworthy data for activation, measurement, and optimization.

What You'll Do
- Follow GM System Safety process that aligns with ISO26262 to conduct functional safety work
- Drive systems safety analysis, hazard identification, and risk mitigation efforts using both qualitative and quantitative methods
- Decompose top-level system functions to perform FIA and develop safety requirements and technical requirements
- Develop and maintain clear development plan for system safety deliverables
- Support the work with cross-functional stakeholders to develop & deploy a safety strategy that balances feature availability & performance
- Support definition of the validation & verification plan for safety requirements that evaluates the end-to-end implementation
- Lead and support developing solutions to safety issues during bench and vehicle development
- Managing Safety requirements in DNG with traceability evidence
Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications)
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related engineering discipline
- 3+ years of post-graduation industry engineering experience in systems safety, systems engineering, software engineering, development or other related fields
- Ability to understand complex technical systems
- Basic knowledge of ISO26262
- Technical leadership skills and an ability to work in a highly collaborative environment
- Strong communication skills and strong project management skills
- Comfortable with ambiguity and has an ability for problem solving
- Able to work in a fast-paced environment with colleagues locally and at remote sites
- Ability to travel as needed (5-10% max)
What will give you a competitive edge (Preferred Qualifications)
- Hands-on experience performing HARA, FSC/TSC development, and Safety Case closure for ADAS or automated driving features in a production environment
- Working knowledge of ADAS architectures (sensors, perception, decision, control) and how safety requirements flow across software, hardware, and system levels
- Experience using functional safety tools (e.g., DNG/DOORS, Medini, Polarion) with strong evidence of requirements traceability and audit readiness

The Role
The Lab System Integration Engineering (LSIE) team is a part of a Central Engineering Resource Team supporting various battery, component, and propulsion test laboratories as well as vehicle garages in Pontiac, Warren and Milford, Michigan. This Battery Lab Systems Integration Engineering position will directly support the Global Battery Systems Lab (GBSL) and Wallace Battery Cell Innovation Center (WBCIC) at the Warren Technical Center Campus with the development and validation of current and future battery technologies within General Motors’ electrification portfolio along with enhancements to the lab infrastructure. This role will be primarily responsible for developing and validating test scripts and associated equipment drivers while meeting strict timing requirements. These scripts will replicate anything from a DC fast charge in the desert to driving across the Canadian tundra in the winter. We also integrate new test hardware into the test labs including some of the largest battery cyclers and shakers in North America. The tests run by the lab directly affect the quality, durability, and performance of electrified vehicles and related products developed by General Motors.
This role is a good fit for a qualified individual who is interested in state-of-the-art battery technologies and testing methods, system-level integration, and has a background in computer programming, data science, and test execution. This role offers practical, hands-on product and lab development experience in the growing field of vehicle electrification.
This position is based on site at the GM Global Technical Center and requires regular in-person presence
What You'll Do
- Develop and validate test scripts and associated equipment drivers while meeting strict timing requirements
- Work closely with product engineering teams to comprehend new product functionality to facilitate the development and implementation of methods for integration with test automation equipment and test scripts
- Provide troubleshooting support pertaining to the integration of test scripts, lab equipment, and products being tested
- Ensure test data generation, delivery, and storage methods are appropriate to meet or exceed quality standards and stakeholder expectations
- Interface with new battery packs to read key parameters such as voltages, temperatures, state of charge, and control electrical connections to lab hardware
- Support the lab’s physical networking capabilities by championing collaboration and projects with internal and external IT and test automation organizations
- Maintain awareness of testing equipment and methods and evaluate them for adoption, championing innovation projects to integrate new technologies
- Work in a collaborative, software release-oriented team atmosphere, actively participating in peer review of teammates’ test scripts and related projects
- Identify and engage in continuous improvement projects aimed at maturing existing testing methods, including a push to increase efficiency while maintaining commonality across multiple test stands
- Support weekend and off-shift needs as required
Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications)
- B.S.E. in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science or similar discipline
- 2+ years of software development experience
- Experience in a testing lab environment working with general hardware tools, including tools like, microcontrollers, battery cyclers, power suppliers etc
- Demonstrated proficiency in a high-level programming language, e.g. C, C++, C#, Java, Python, MATLAB
- Demonstrated ability to design and implement algorithms to automate tasks
- Understanding of electrical hardware and ability to interpret electrical drawings
- Demonstrated ability to work with a high level of autonomy in a complex environment, managing multiple projects by establishing priorities and deliverables with minimal supervision

- M.S.E. in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering or Computer Science
- Battery systems product development and/or testing experience

- Programming of test automation systems, e.g. A&D iTest, AVL Lynx, LabView, TestStand, Veristand
- Use of common automotive debug and data acquisition tools, e.g. CANalyzer, VehicleSpy, INCA/MDA
- Ability to understand, utilize, and debug application specific protocols, e.g. CAN, LIN, mail slots, SPI, modbus
- Knowledge of traditional product development, validation and release timing, milestones and methodologies
