As part of the team, you’ll collaborate closely with high‑calibre engineers and deeply engaged business and product partners - working together to define and deliver the next generation of Equities technology at Citi.

We are looking for an experienced KDB+ Developer to build and support our strategic analytics backbone that services our Equities Electronic Trading product. This is a VP-level position responsible for establishing and implementing new or revised application systems and programs in coordination with the Citi Equities Electronic Trading Technology team. The overall objective of this role is to lead applications systems analysis and programming activities on our Analytics and Data subsystems.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead the core development and delivery on the KDB+ platform used by Citi's Equities Electronic trading system.
  • Build and maintain business-critical, low-latency systems for processing high volumes of market data and generating required analytics from large datasets.
  • Architect and maintain platforms that enable efficient data management, sophisticated analytics generation, and provide data services to other trading applications.
  • Partner with multiple management teams to ensure appropriate integration of functions to meet goals as well as identify and define necessary system enhancements.
  • Resolve a variety of high-impact problems through in-depth evaluation of complex business processes, system processes, and industry standards.
  • Provide expertise in KDB+ and advanced knowledge of applications programming, ensuring application design adheres to the overall architecture blueprint.
  • Utilize advanced knowledge of system flow and develop standards for coding, testing, debugging, and implementation.
  • Develop a comprehensive knowledge of how areas of business, such as architecture and infrastructure, integrate to accomplish business goals.
  • Serve as an advisor or coach to mid-level developers and analysts, allocating work as necessary.
  • Appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating particular consideration for the firm's reputation and safeguarding Citigroup, its clients and assets, by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations, adhering to Policy, applying sound ethical judgment regarding personal behavior, conduct and business practices, and escalating, managing and reporting control issues with transparency.

Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of professional experience with a strong understanding of KDB+ technology and the Q language.
  • Practical experience scaling and load-balancing KDB+ applications.
  • Proven expertise in building resilient and high-availability KDB+ applications.
  • Extensive experience managing and optimizing query performance on very large datasets (terabytes/petabytes).
  • Strong knowledge of financial market protocols (e.g., FIX) and experience in handling order and market datasets.
  • Consistently demonstrates clear and concise written and verbal communication.
  • Preferred background in Markets Electronic Trading or Market Making domains.

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree/University degree or equivalent experience
  • Master’s degree preferred
