The Applications Development Senior Manager is a senior management level position responsible for accomplishing results through the management of a team or department in an effort to establish and implement new or revised application systems and programs in coordination with the Technology team. This senior development leadership role will be responsible for defining, architecting, and developing solutions to address needs of Agency/SPT Trading desk. This person will serve as technology partner to business users, managing a complex book of work that includes development and support of existing indicative data warehouse, managing its migration to cloud platform, and support for existing portfolio management tool employed by Trading desk. The ideal candidate will combine deep subject matter expertise in mortgage-backed securities and the their trading, pricing and data, along with demonstrated experience in leading global technology teams and hands-on architectural experience with .NET technology stack.
Responsibilities:
- Provide technical leadership for the technology group supporting Agency/SPT trading business. Leverage expertise in Mortgage business and technology domain to define best technical solutions for the business requirements.
- Drive architectural design and oversee development of cloud native data warehouse to support asks from trading desk, quantitative analysts, regulators, finance, and other stakeholders
- Manage existing SQL Server based data warehouse while developing solutions to shrink its footprint in favor of cloud-based solution
- Manage a legacy .NET and SQL Server based Mortgage pricing and portfolio management application while replacement platform is coming online. Negotiate with stakeholders on solutions to limit work slate to Technology and Business mandatory asks
- Lead and manage a team of technology professionals, including direct management of a core development team and site leadership for a larger local group
- Manage, prioritize, and execute a complex book of work, balancing short-term urgent requests with long-term strategic deliverables
- Coordinate across numerous internal technology, business, and control function groups to ensure cohesive and successful project delivery
- Appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating particular consideration for the firm's reputation and safeguarding Citigroup, its clients and assets, by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations, adhering to Policy, applying sound ethical judgment regarding personal behavior, conduct and business practices, and escalating, managing and reporting control issues with transparency, as well as effectively supervise the activity of others and create accountability with those who fail to maintain these standards.
Qualifications:
- 10 year+ experience in applications development with 5+ years' experience in a technology leadership role
- 5+ year experience of hands-on C#/.Net and SQL Server development
- Experience as senior level in an Applications Development role
- Proven accountability for delivering complex, large-scale technology reengineering or transformation projects
- In-depth knowledge of modern application development concepts, software architecture, and industry best practices
- Strong technical decision-making capabilities and the ability to guide teams through complex problems
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with a proven ability to influence and negotiate with senior stakeholders
- Strong understanding of risk assessment, compliance, and control standards within the financial services industry
- Deep subject matter expertise in Mortgage-Backed Securities and other Fixed Income products is a major plus
Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Finance, or a related field
