At Netflix, our mission is to entertain the world. Together, we are writing the next episode - pushing the boundaries of storytelling, global fandom and making the unimaginable a reality. We are a dream team obsessed with the uncomfortable excitement of discovering what happens when you merge creativity, intuition and cutting-edge technology. Come be a part of what’s next.
The Ads Data & Insights team's mission at Netflix is to help build the foundation of the Ads business. We design effective metrics, conduct analyses and develop analytic tools, and build predictive models and algorithms using machine learning - all with the goal of creating more choices and joy for our members.
We are seeking a Senior Analytics Engineer to lead the development of a unified revenue analytics narrative and strategy for Netflix’s global Ads business. Building upon our growing data infrastructure, we need an end-to-end owner to operationalize core revenue datasets and drive the overarching business narrative. In this highly impactful role, you will build the semantic models, executive dashboards, and analysis frameworks that drive how we measure, reconcile, and communicate revenue across diverse stakeholder groups.
As a subject matter expert, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the analytics vision for revenue measurement. You will take foundational revenue definitions and champion them across Finance & Strategy, Revenue Accounting, and Product. This is an open opportunity to explore how we measure and think about revenue across the entire Ads business—empowering Netflix to deliver accurate, transparent, and timely insights that cascade into key downstream performance metrics.
What You Will Do:
- Lead the analytics vision for unified revenue measurement across Netflix Ads, designing and implementing frameworks to harmonize, quantify, and report on diverse revenue streams, including new content formats Netflix is launching, like Live and Free-to-air Broadcasting.
- Act as the lead Semantic Architect for revenue, driving consensus across F&S, Accounting, and Product, and codifying those agreed-upon definitions into the Ads Metrics Catalog (AMC) and our underlying semantic models.
- Build scalable, transparent data models and dashboards—in partnership with Data Engineering—that provide real-time and periodic insights into revenue streams, metric definitions, and the impact of adjustments, supporting daily operational needs and strict financial and SOX compliance reporting.
- Drive the narrative around how core revenue definitions impact downstream performance metrics (like CPM and CPS), conducting deep-dive research to explain the why behind metric movements.
- Act as a subject matter expert in revenue analytics, piloting scalable solutions for complex treatments (e.g., invoice discounts, agency fees, FX rates, makegoods, and integrated marketing fees), and driving innovation and transparency in how Netflix measures and communicates advertising revenue.
- Serve as the integration layer for revenue data. While partner teams may own localized source data (Sales, Live, etc.), you will be responsible for aggregating, harmonizing, and exposing the overarching executive revenue views in core reporting surfaces.
What You Bring:
- Experience working with financial datasets, revenue accounting, or ad-tech monetization analytics.
- A “Data Product Owner” mindset. You are comfortable with ambiguity and recognize that defining the metric across a matrixed organization is just as important as writing the code to build it.
- Communication superpower — the ability to communicate, influence, and connect the dots between insights and actions across a variety of stakeholders.
- Fluency in SQL, workflow orchestration tools like Apache Airflow, and at least one analytics and scripting language like Python.
- Mentors, brainstorms with, and enables others, especially within your functional area.
- A proven track record of balancing the need to move quickly with the high rigor and accuracy required for executive and financial reporting.
- Strong analytical rigor combined with the ability to conduct independent research and explain complex metric variances to senior leadership.
- Experience building or working with semantic modeling tools like LookML for creating and managing metric contracts is a plus.
- Curiosity or practical experience building with emerging AI technologies (e.g., Agentic AI) is a plus.

Senior Software Engineer (L5) - Cloud Gaming Transport R&D
$388,000 - $619,000
Role Details
At Netflix, our mission is to entertain the world. Together, we are writing the next episode - pushing the boundaries of storytelling, global fandom and making the unimaginable a reality. We are a dream team obsessed with the uncomfortable excitement of discovering what happens when you merge creativity, intuition and cutting-edge technology. Come be a part of what’s next.
The Open Connect organization is a critical group within Netflix that builds and manages a global Content Delivery Network that delivers all of Netflix’s streaming video, including Live content, Cloud Gaming, and Advertising. Our nascent cloud gaming service delivers entertainment using real-time, ultra low-latency network transport technologies.
We are looking for a senior software engineer with experience designing & implementing highly-interactive, ultra-low latency, bi-directional streams over the public Internet. In particular, you have a deep understanding of how the dynamically varying characteristics of internet paths influence the design and implementation of performant cloud gaming transport protocols.
You will help refine and improve our understanding of network path characteristics (including in-home WiFi behavior, bufferbloat mitigation on shared access links, and so forth); refine and import our heuristics for rate & latency estimation, rate adaptation, congestion control, and loss recovery for RTP-based media streams; collaborate with colleagues to implement and deploy new ideas in our server-side transport stack; and work closely with server, client and data analytics colleagues to improve our lab-based and production (A/B) testing techniques for evaluating service performance.
In this role, you will have the opportunity to directly impact an emerging area of business. We provide the freedom to execute, learn and pivot, and the responsibility to be self directed, collaborative and insightful.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Experience identifying and solving highly complex transport problems that are open-ended or ambiguous and result in significant business or technical impact.
- Experience designing, implementing and deploying WebRTC-like transport stacks for interactive, ultra low-latency streaming applications.
- Familiarity with how low-latency, two-way media flows over IP networks interact with WiFi paths, bufferbloat, active queue management, and concurrent TCP-like traffic.
- Practical understanding of modern strategies for balancing network congestion, goodput, latency and reliability in support of interactive, ultra low-latency streaming.
- Experience using network lab environments for controlled data networking experiments exploring large, multi-parameter test spaces. Experience using A/B testing methodologies for transport stack performance testing in production.
- An ability to articulate for diverse audiences the technical and business implications of performance measurement experiments executed both in the lab and in production.
- Experience with modern tools and scripting languages used for network traffic capture, test orchestration, post-capture analysis and presentation.
You will be successful in this role if you:
- Have the ability to define and self-manage cross-functional projects fueled by ambiguous questions.
- Are a self-starter, curious and not afraid to ask when in doubt.
- Are a quick learner and excited about learning new technologies.
- Advocate software craftsmanship, take pride in your work and enjoy taking full ownership of projects from conception to deployment in high-reliability production infrastructure.
Nice to have:
- Experience with software development in Linux or closely-related environments.
- Experience using hardware encoding pipelines as content sources for RTP streams, particularly in virtual machine and/or containerized environments.
- Experience partnering with remote engineering or product teams across multiple time zones.
- Masters or Bachelors degree in a relevant science or engineering discipline.
Generally, our compensation structure consists solely of an annual salary; we do not have bonuses. You choose each year how much of your compensation you want in salary versus stock options.
