Lead Technology‑Driven Transformation of FastTrack Delivery
- Define and execute the engineering roadmap that evolves FastTrack from a people‑centric delivery model to an AI‑augmented service platform

The Technical Leader for Systems Engineering will take CTO technology innovations into production, including defining reliability and quality requirements and supply chain development and enablement. The candidate will be responsible for providing technical alignment with cross-functional teams for hardware systems (CPU, GPU, racks), networking, and datacenter roadmaps. The SQL Developer Experiences team is hiring a Senior Software Engineer to help build modern developer tooling for Azure SQL and the broader SQL Server platform. We create Visual Studio Code and GitHub Copilot extensions that enable developers to use the latest AI-assisted workflows to build data-driven applications more quickly and effectively. Our team is also building end-to-end agentic development experiences tailored for enterprise cloud deployment pipelines. In this role, you will lead the development of innovative data developer features that help customers take full advantage of the latest Azure, cloud, and AI platform capabilities.

Responsibilities
- Build and enhance Visual Studio Code extensions and developer tools for Azure SQL and SQL Server platform.
- Develop AI-assisted workflows and GitHub Copilot experiences for data developers.
- Lead feature development end-to-end, from concept and design through implementation, release, and support.
- Collaborate with engineers, product managers, and designers to deliver modern, high-quality developer experiences.
- Use AI and modern engineering tools to accelerate development and improve team productivity.

Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 4+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python
- OR equivalent experience.

- This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Strong proficiency in TypeScript and experience building modern developer-facing applications or tools.
- Experience with C# and .NET, including work on libraries, frameworks, or platform components.
- Experience building developer tools, including IDE extensions, web-based development experiences, AI-assisted tooling or other workflow productivity tools.
- Demonstrated experience, typically 4+ years, designing, building, and shipping high-quality commercial software.
- Experience building scalable, maintainable software components and delivering features across the development lifecycle.

Software Engineering IC4 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $119,800 - $234,700 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $158,400 - $258,000 per year.
