The Data Engineering & Enterprise Tools team powers Zillow Rentals by delivering mission-critical sales tools and analytics solutions. We bridge the gap between complex data and daily action by partnering closely with Sales, Operations & Business partners to turn their workflows into scalable, intuitive, and reliable internal products.

About the role

As a Senior Software Development Engineer, you will lead the end-to-end delivery and ongoing support of full-stack internal products for Zillow Rentals and related businesses. You will collaborate closely with leadership, end users, and your colleagues to deploy products that optimize daily operations and uncover new business insights.

Who you are

• You have 5+ years of professional software development experience, including building full-stack applications using modern JavaScript (ES6+), React, and TypeScript on the front end.
• You have experience building APIs, GraphQL endpoints, and services using one or more of: Python, Java and you are comfortable working across service boundaries.
• You are experienced with both relational and non-relational databases and can choose appropriate data storage strategies for different use cases.
• You are highly skilled with modern development practices for designing, delivering, debugging, and maintaining front-end user interfaces and back-end software systems (for example: automated testing, observability, CI/CD).
• You have built or supported internal tools, customer-facing analytics experiences, or CRM-adjacent applications for business stakeholders such as Sales, Operations, Analytics, or Finance.

About the team

We are seeking a Payments Manager to join our eCommerce Payment Program Management team. This role is responsible for leading a program management team that oversees the planning, coordination, and delivery of billing and payments initiatives across Zillow. The Payments Manager will partner closely with Finance, Accounting, Product, Engineering, Compliance, and Data teams to ensure billing and payments programs are well managed, transparent, and aligned with business priorities.
This is a people management role with responsibility for both program managers and reporting analysts. The ideal candidate brings strong experience in the billing and payments domain, alongside program management fundamentals, and the ability to use data, reporting platforms, and emerging AI-enabled tools to drive visibility and decision-making across complex initiatives. Deep familiarity and experience in the end-to-end merchant services domain and enterprise billing ecosystems is critical to success in this role.

• Manage and support a payments program management team, including program managers and reporting analysts, by setting clear priorities and providing day-to-day guidance, coaching, and performance feedback.

Who you are

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Applied Sciences, Finance, Accounting, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• At least 5 years of management experience, including people leadership in program management, payments, billing, or related domains.
• At least 8 years of experience in the billing and payments domain, ideally within a fast-paced technology, eCommerce, or financial services environment.
• Hands-on experience with enterprise billing and ERP platforms, with strong preference for Zuora; experience with NetSuite, Oracle, or similar systems is a plus.
• Experience working with data and reporting platforms such as Databricks and business intelligence tools including Tableau, Domo, Power BI, or similar.

• Experience managing third-party vendor relationships in a billing or payments context, including performance monitoring and contract coordination.

The Database Platform Engineering team is a core pillar of Platform Engineering at Zillow. The team builds and operates the data foundations that power critical customer-facing and internal workloads. We’re evolving from a reactive model into a modern platform engineering practice that delivers self-service, standardized “paved roads”, and automation-first capabilities for both relational and NoSQL data stores.

Who you are

· A BS+ in Computer Science or a related field, and 8+ years in data or software engineering on data‑intensive systems, including 4+ years managing engineers.

· Proven track record of building and scaling high‑impact data engineering teams and data products.

· Significant experience designing and operating pipelines over billions of events and petabyte‑scale datasets, ideally including clickstream, web/app analytics, or engagement/retention data.

· Strong hands‑on experience with SQL, Python, Spark, and modern data platforms and orchestration tools (e.g., Databricks, Airflow/Prefect/Dagster, and AWS or another major cloud provider).

Who you are

• 5+ years of experience as an applied or research scientist working on machine learning or computer vision with real-world data.

As a Principal Machine Learning Engineer, you are a roll-up-the-sleeves and get-it-done engineer who can marry state-of-the-art technology (i.e., LLM models, either from OpenAI or open source) with large-scale engineering. We are looking for someone who has:
