Reporting to the Product Manager the Mechanical Development engineer The Sr. Mechanical Design Engineer will own the design, analysis, validation, and refinement of mechanical components and assemblies that enable reliable, high efficiency liquid cooling. They will work closely with Thermal, Electrical, Product Development, Manufacturing, and Quality teams to take products from concept through launch and into scalable production.
What a typical day looks like:
Mechanical Design & Development
- Own mechanical design for liquid cooling components including cold plates, manifolds, quick-disconnects, tubing assemblies, housings, and chassis interfaces.
- Create and manage detailed CAD models, 2D drawings, GD&T, and tolerance stack-ups to ensure robust, manufacturable designs.
- Select materials and finishes to address corrosion, galvanic compatibility, cleanliness, pressure containment, and long-term durability in liquid cooling environments.
- Drive sealing strategies using O-rings, gaskets, welds, brazes, and adhesives matched to coolant chemistry and operating conditions.
Engineering Analysis
- Perform engineering calculations and simulations related to mechanical stress, thermal expansion, fatigue, vibration, flow/pressure, and structural integrity.
- Collaborate with thermal engineers to optimize mechanical features influencing flow distribution, pressure drop, fin/channel geometry, and heat transfer efficiency.
- Conduct DFM reviews with suppliers to align machining, brazing, and fabrication methods with design requirements.
Prototyping & Validation
- Build and iterate on prototypes to evaluate fit, finish, assembly, and performance.
- Develop mechanical validation plans for pressure tests, leak testing, burst testing, vibration/shock, environmental exposure, thermal cycling, and dimensional inspection.
- Design test fixtures and support automated data collection where needed.
- Lead root cause analysis for failures (e.g., leaks, deformation, material incompatibility) and implement corrective design changes.
Manufacturing & Supplier Engagement
- Collaborate with manufacturing engineering and suppliers on fabrication, machining, brazing, plating, and sealing processes.
- Define critical-to-quality (CTQ) characteristics and participate in supplier qualification.
- Review and approve tooling, control plans, and inspection criteria for new mechanical parts.
- Support build events (EVT/DVT/PVT) and ensure mechanical components meet functionality, quality, and reliability targets.
Cross‑Functional Collaboration
- Work with Program Management and Product Development to translate product requirements into mechanical specifications.
- Partner with Thermal and Electrical teams to ensure system-level integration of cooling hardware with processors, boards, and rack infrastructure.
- Provide input to serviceability, reliability, manufacturability, and cost trade-off discussions.
- Support customer evaluations, pilot deployments, and field feedback analysis.
The experience we’re looking to add to our team:
- BS/MS in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent experience.
- 7+ years developing complex mechanical components or assemblies for electro mechanical systems; experience with liquid cooling or fluid systems strongly preferred.
- Strong proficiency with CAD (SolidWorks, Creo, NX), drawing generation, and GD&T (ASME Y14.5).
- Experience designing for precision machining, brazing, plating, elastomer sealing, and pressure rated components.
- Hands-on experience with pressure/leak testing, dimensional inspection, materials evaluation, and mechanical validation testing.
- Familiarity with materials (copper, aluminum, stainless steel, polymers, elastomers) and their behavior in liquid coolant environments.

Job Summary
To support our extraordinary teams who build great products and contribute to our growth, we’re looking to add a Senior Thermal Systems Engineer located in Littleton, MA.
Reporting to the Product Manager the Senior Thermal Systems Engineer will own the end-to-end architecture, analysis, validation, and deployment of direct-to-chip (D2C) cooling systems used to cool high-TDP CPUs/GPUs/accelerators. They will be the technical leader partnering with Product Management, Mechanical/Electrical Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, Reliability, and key customers to deliver robust, scalable products that meet performance, reliability, and cost targets.
What a typical day looks like:
Own thermal architecture & modeling
- Define system-level thermal requirements (TDP range, ΔT, coolant temperature, flow rate, pressure drop, acoustic & power budgets).
- Apply first principles in fluid dynamics and heat transfer to analyze design concept thermal performance
- Build and validate 1D/3D models (e.g., FloEFD, Icepak, MacroFlow, ANSYS Fluent, COMSOL) for cold plates, manifolds, quick-disconnects (QDs), pumps, and CDUs.
- Perform sensitivity trade-offs (flow distribution, fin geometry, microchannel optimization, TIM selection, manifold topology).
Design liquid cooling subsystems
- Specify and refine cold plates, CDUs, manifolds, hoses/QDs, reservoirs, filters, sensors, and controls.
- Collaborate with ME/EE on mechanical stack-up, materials, corrosion mitigation (galvanic compatibility), and leak risk reduction.
- Define DFX (DFM/DFA/DFT) and lead EVT/DVT/PVT from prototypes to mass production.
Validate and qualify
- Develop test plans for thermal performance, pressure integrity, leak detection, long-term reliability (HALT/HASS), and contamination control (particulates, biogrowth).
- Execute lab and rack-scale testing (pump curves, flow balance, ΔP mapping, heat load emulation, transient behavior).
- Drive failure analysis and corrective actions (FMEAs, 8D/PPS).
Partner across the business
- Work with Product Management on PRDs, roadmaps, and business cases.
- Support manufacturing process development (leak/pressure test stations, purge and fill, cleanliness criteria) and supplier selection/qualification.
- Engage with customers: define requirements, run pilots, analyze fleet telemetry, and support deployment at scale.
The experience we’re looking to add to our team:
- BS/MS in Mechanical Engineering or Aerospace Engineering or related field (PhD a plus).
- 5+ years experience in thermal design/validation for high-power electronics (preferably data center/server/HPC).
- Excellent first principles knowledge in fluid dynamics, thermodynamics, and heat transfer
- Proven expertise in liquid cooling, including CFD, pressure drop/flow modeling, and thermal metrology.
- Hands-on with lab instrumentation (flow meters, pressure transducers, thermocouples/RTDs, DAQ, leak detectors) and test automation (Python, LabVIEW, or similar).
- Experience bringing products from EVT → DVT → PVT → ramp, including DFX and supplier engagement.

Job Summary
The Principal Applications Engineer will be based in San Jose, CA reporting to the Director, Global Field Application Engineering. The Applications Engineer will be accountable for providing technical guidance and design-in help to customers on a post-sales basis to enable delivery of design, fabrication, and assembly goals, per customers’ expectations.
What a Typical Day Looks Like:
- Uses technical knowledge of products and associated development tools to assist customers on complex issues.
