Position Summary

DuPont is seeking a EMEA New Business Development (NBD) Technology Lead f/m for its Tyvek® Roll Goods Business.

Operating in a 2‑in‑a‑box model with the NBD – EMEA Marketing Leader, this role will identify, prioritize, and develop new applications and platforms.

Key Responsibilities

New Application and Opportunity Identification

  • Identify new application opportunities.
  • Translate opportunities into technical concepts and application hypotheses.
  • Monitor internal and external technology developments to identify further opportunities for innovation, differentiation, or platform expansion.

Technical Strategy and Feasibility

  • Define technical value proposition, performance targets, and differentiation.
  • Lead technical feasibility assessments.
  • Identify technical risks, gaps, and development needs, and propose mitigation strategies.

Application Development and Validation

  • Lead early‑stage application development activities.
  • Develop and execute testing and validation plans.
  • Incorporate customer, market, and technical feedback to refine solutions through iterative development cycles.

Cross‑Functional and External Collaboration

  • Establish and leverage external technical collaborations.
  • Serve as the primary technical interface for new business initiatives, collaborating closely with R&D and Technology and other cross-functional teams.

Portfolio Prioritization and Business Support

  • Support business case development by contributing technical assumptions.
  • Enable informed decision‑making through fact‑based technical assessments.
  • Provide technical input into opportunity prioritization, portfolio reviews, and stage‑gate or governance processes.

Transition to Commercialization

  • Define technical roadmaps to support transition.
  • Support effective handover of mature opportunities to Product Management, Business Units, or Technology organizations.

Qualifications

Required

  • Master’s or PhD in Engineering, Materials Science, Physics, or a related discipline.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in R&D, application development, or innovation.
  • Proven ability to translate customer / market needs into technical solutions.
  • Success leading cross‑functional projects in complex or ambiguous environments.
  • Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in an agile, exploratory, and fast‑paced environment.
  • Travel up to 30%.

Preferred

  • Experience supporting new market entry, platform development, or technology commercialization.
  • Background in nonwovens, membranes and filtration and technology scouting.

As the global head of Application Development and Technical Service, you will:

1. Strategic Technical & Business Leadership

  • Define the global Application Development vision and strategy for Tyvek® Roll Goods.

  • Provide authoritative technical direction in support of portfolio decisions, investment choices, and market expansion.

2. Lead Global Application Development & Technical Service

  • Oversee worldwide execution of technical service, application development, and technical customer engagement.
  • Ensure rigor, consistency, and technical excellence across all regions.
  • Direct compliance with QMS, regulatory expectations, and industry standards.
  • Represent DuPont in key global technical bodies, influencing industry norms and future regulatory frameworks.

3. Drive the Short‑Term Innovation Portfolio

  • Identify, prioritize, and execute renewal and growth initiatives in established applications and markets.
  • Oversee global VOC processes and competitive assessments to fuel the innovation pipeline.
  • Ensure timely, disciplined program execution across productivity, core, and short‑term innovation initiatives.

4. Senior-Level Customer Engagement & External Influence

  • Act as the global technical ambassador for strategic customers and partners.

Qualifications – Senior-Level Requirements :

Required

  • Master’s degree or higher in a scientific or engineering discipline.
  • 5+ years of proven people leadership experience managing technical teams.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead large, global, cross‑functional initiatives with complex stakeholder networks.
  • Fluent in English.

Strongly Preferred

  • 10+ years in innovation, business development, strategic marketing, or technology roles within materials, chemicals, packaging, or industrial solutions.
  • 5+ years leading innovation program portfolios with measurable business impact.
  • Proficiency with lean innovation, statistical analysis tools, and data-driven decision-making.
  • Expertise in VOC methodologies and business case evaluation using the Desirability–Viability–Feasibility framework.

Tyvek® R&D Senior Scientist/Engineer f/m – Product Development

The Tyvek® enterprise in DuPont Healthcare & Water Technologies is globally recognized as an advanced materials and solutions provider in healthcare packaging, personal protective equipment, and consumer and industrial solutions, among others. In Tyvek® R&D, we deliver new products for new and existing markets, improvements in manufacturing, and/or entirely new technology platforms and assets. Our Tyvek® R&D Scientists and Engineers define, lead, and execute technical programs focused on product and process technology development, based on a strong understanding of fundamental scientific and engineering principles. They are active members of the broader global technology community within DuPont.

Primary Responsibilities:

As part of our Tyvek® R&D growth plan, we are seeking a Senior Scientist / Engineer focused on Product Development with Subject Matter Expertise in a scientific and/or engineering discipline relevant to producing polymer-based products at commercial scale. The expectation for this position requires a candidate that can be effective at delivering product solutions in tight timelines, with a hands-on, pragmatic capability to handle the details necessary to drive new developments in key market segments. Successful product development requires the ability to build process-structure-property relationships and apply them at a lab to commercial scale to meet market needs.

This hiring initiative represents an exciting opportunity to join a dynamic, empowered, global R&D team that applies a rich understanding of materials, polymer science & engineering, chemistry, physics, and chemical, mechanical, and electrical engineering. We work in a very diverse environment with the mission to develop nonwoven membrane solutions that protect people, property, and critical products and processes from the hazards that threaten them.

Specific job responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Defining, leading, and executing R&D programs focused on improving the technical value proposition of Tyvek® nonwovens in the market.
  • Act as the product technology focal point with Marketing Managers, Product Managers, and Application Technology Leaders to develop market participation strategies with different and new product families based on advanced flash spinning technology.
  • Design of experiments related to flash-spinning of new polymers, polymer blends and additives, and polymer solutions, including formulation of optimized ingredients and process conditions.
  • Identifying, assessing, and developing new or improved lab and pilot scale capabilities.
  • Developing methods for monitoring product performance across multiple processing steps.
  • Ability to apply fundamental scientific and engineering principles inform product development.
  • Developing fundamental mechanistic understanding of product characteristics.
  • Communicating analyses and findings through technical reports and presentations.
  • Participate in supplier discussions to identify new or improved process ingredients.
  • Actively developing new intellectual property (IP) and ensure IP is appropriately managed and defended for the market segment.
  • Understanding the regulatory and competitive landscape, with good comprehension of relevant IP.
  • Propose process and product improvements which maintain compliance with safety and regulatory standards.
  • Collaborating in global, cross-functional teams, represented by various technical and non-technical disciplines.
  • Partnering with other scientists and engineers to scale new processes and products to commercial production and introduction to market.
  • Actively seeking and partnering with internal and external consultants, vendors, and other entities to execute programs.

This job may require travel up to 10% of work time.

Qualifications:

  • PhD or MSc in Chemistry, Polymer Science and Engineering, Materials Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Physics, or related disciplines
  • Knowledge in two or more of the following areas: product development; process and/or product scale-up; analytical chemistry, polymer processing, chemistry, and/or physics; polymer characterization; thermodynamics; intellectual property development; quality assurance; standards development / regulatory compliance; project management.
  • Not required, but is a plus: Knowledge of biostatistics and microbiological quantification methods. Experience in implementation & improvement of microbiological testing methods, lab and/or manufacturing risk assessments and risk mitigation, Biosafety Level (BSL) standards & practices, and proper use and maintenance of Class II Biological Safety Cabinets (BSCs).
  • Previous professional experience, preferably in research or manufacturing roles.
