Principal System Architect

In the Arm Central Technology Systems group, we define SoC and system architectures and technology roadmaps across multiple sectors, including mobile, infrastructure, automotive, robotics, and IoT.

We are looking for a systems and machine learning architect to join and further strengthen our Physical AI (automotive and robotics) systems team.

We work in small, highly technical teams, so your contributions will make a difference. Our team is diverse and distributed across the UK and US, though we prefer to fill this position in our Austin TX location.

Responsibilities:

Synthesize diverse sets of requirements to dimension optimized system solutions, based on representative inference models and/or software workloads. Based on understanding of multi-modal sensor systems to actuator interfaces, you will focus on the compute requirements (especially performance and power) for these systems.

Develop and augment model zoos for automotive autonomy and robotics applications. Develop performance and power analysis reports, based on measurements on existing systems to our most advanced, emerging technology.

Collaborate with other SoC architects, system architects, system designers, IP teams and analysis teams.

Engage with specialists across Arm, from AI/ML modeling, hardware modeling, simulation and emulation, and software.

Explore and innovate architectural techniques to optimize SoC features including selecting, optimizing, profiling algorithms, and selecting, optimizing neural networks.

Essential Skills and Experience :

At least two years of automotive autonomy or robotics system architecture and/or AI/ML development experience. At least five years of relevant software industry experience.

Experience with design and architecture of classical and AI/ML/RL algorithms and networks on contemporary high-performance systems.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Understanding of GPU, NPU functional architectures and how they affect the performance and power aspects of the SoC.

Understanding of computer architecture and concepts such as cache hierarchy, memory access efficiency, parallel architectures.

Capable of working both in teams and independently.

High degree of initiative and a confident problem solver.

Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent experience) in electrical engineering, computer science, mathematics, robotics, data analytics or a related field. Master’s degree preferred.

• Classical MLPs, CNNs and modern DNN, transformer architectures for high performance automotive and robotics perception.
• Sensor preprocessing including GPGPU and/or other hardware accelerator approaches for high performance automotive and robotics sensor perception.

• Functional safety, ISO26262, and developing systems for safety applications.

System Validation engineers in this group are responsible for driving validation specifications & methodology and deliver on the validation of IPs for the next generation of compute solution. .You will work closely with architecture, design, verification, modelling, performance analysis, SW development, Emulation and FPGA and Board development engineers.

Responsibilities:

Work with project team to understand, review the system requirements and deliver emulator testbench specifications.
Key responsibilities will include owning the development of validation platform in emulation, debug methodology, developing and implementing the test content, finding bugs, and running various validation checks for IPs (CPUs and SystemIPs), Interfaces (like CHI, PCIe etc.) in emulation environment. Will guide other members of the team as needed to enable the successful completion of project activities

Required Skills and Experience :

4-6 Years of Experience!
Bachelors (BS) or Masters (MS/MSc) in Electronics, Electrical or Computer Engineering - although other degrees will be considered with relevant work experience

You will need experience of Emulation and system level validation for IPs and sub-systems and ASIC products. Emulation build skills and knowledge for a subsystem in at least one emulation system is required. Execution of the design in emulation platform and knowledge of hardware and software interplay is required.
You possess the knowledge of Validation test content using C, C++ etc and how they can be performed in an emulation-based system.
Expertise on hardware behavioral language (Verilog, System Verilog)
Exposure to producing validation specifications and documentation describing sophisticated designs
Ability to work under time-scale pressure and meet ambitious targets without compromising on quality
Understanding of the fundamentals of computer architecture, system IP, memory subsystem, accelerator.
Practical experience of working on Processor based system designs

Demonstrated understanding of CPU/ GPU subsystem in SoC environment and proven expertise in owning validation requirements & Validation Plan.
Hands on Experience in validating multiple sub systems for ASICs/ SoCs in system environment ( across Emulation, FPGA and Development/Eval board), owning all phases of validation ( Test development, Execution and Debug) for owned sub systems.

As a Performance Applications Engineer at Arm, you will mainly work with our partners to guide them through difficult and exciting software technical challenges!

Job Overview:

The mission of the Central Technology ML (CTML) team is to pioneer and implement the technology roadmap that paves the way for the future of machine learning computing on Arm architecture. We believe that innovative ML technology necessitates joint development across hardware, software, and ML algorithms. As a member of the CTML Content and Algorithm team, the candidate will play a key role within the Center of Excellence for Machine Learning. They will actively supply to this joint development initiative, conducting in-depth analyses of complex neural networks on ARM's computing platforms and devising algorithms that will elevate us to the forefront of future.

Responsibilities:

Develop in depth understanding of current and future ML workload on ARM compute platforms with a focus on their PPA (performance, power, and area).

• Architecture exploration necessitates the joint development of hardware, software, and algorithms. This role serves as the ML Algorithm experts within the exploration process. This includes algorithm innovation and prototyping to drive and validate architectural features.
• Develop hardware aware optimization algorithm that can make state-of-the art networks on Arm platforms including CPU/GPU/NPUs.

Required Skills and Experience :

• 3+ years working in a ML Algorithm Development and/or Optimization environment
• A Master or PhD degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science or other related technical fields
• Proficient in computer architecture, basic knowledge of HW and SW design
• Developing and working with large software systems in programming languages like Python
• Knowledge of innovative deep learning libraries such as Tensorflow and Pytorch

We are looking for a highly motivated individual to join Arm and help shape the future of developer productivity and agentic software workflows. This role sits within the Developer Engagement group and will focus on building and evolving Arm’s MCP (Model Context Protocol) server to support a wide range of developer use cases.

You will work at the intersection of AI agents, developer tools, and Arm platforms, helping define how modern agentic systems interact with Arm-based software, services, and infrastructure. This role is ideal for someone who closely follows and experiments with new developments in the AI tooling ecosystem, translating emerging ideas, agent frameworks, tool calling, and prompt design, into scalable, production-ready developer solutions.

Our team works on software development methodologies, educational content, example software, and development tools. Our top priority is ensuring that developers can successfully adopt Arm technology. You will engage directly with developers, understand their workflows, and design MCP-based solutions that integrate seamlessly into AI-assisted development environments.

We work across multiple computing segments, including servers and cloud, mobile, laptops, and embedded systems. As part of a small, dynamic team, you will build and prototype scalable solutions and drive developer enablement and technical advocacy across the Arm ecosystem. • Design, build, and evolve Arm's MCP server, enabling AI agents and tools to interact effectively with Arm software, platforms, and services

Responsibilities:

• Design and develop Arm’s SoC architecture based on Arm product IP and system architecture to meet the requirements of best-in-class compute across our market segments.
• Work proactively across Arm’s architecture and core technology teams to ensure a roadmap of architecture platforms and technology feature development supporting the needs of groundbreaking SoCs
• Collaborate with a team of SoC architects with the expertise to leave no stone unturned in the quest to design world-leading SoCs. Ability to scale across multiple partners and deliver multiple engagements in parallel.

• Excellent presentation, interpersonal and communication skills. Able to present at executive level inside and outside of Arm.
• Bachelor's or Master’s degrees in Electrical or Computer Engineering and 10 years of experience in a senior development or leadership position within semiconductor industry
• Ability to influence at all levels, across engineering and business organizations internal and external to Arm, in their peer group, across execution, strategy and change.
