Apple's On device Machine Learning Infrastructure and Quality team is seeking a highly motivated and detail oriented software engineer to drive innovations in quality for on device intelligence.
The successful candidate will be passionate about delivering the best possible experience for our users and is continuously looking for new ways to measure and improve the quality of our software stack and infrastructure. Additionally, having the ability to switch between designing creative product usage scenarios and immersive analysis of detailed feature design will be a critical skill to possess.
Description
The Software Development Engineer- Test will interact multi-functionally with many teams across Apple, impacting all levels of the Apple’s on device machine learning stack including hardware, drivers, frameworks and developer tools.
In addition, you will develop and implement comprehensive manual /automated test plans and maintaining CI/CD presubmission pipelines. You will also be the voice of our customers, championing quality software development through each step of the development process and driving quality improvements throughout the organization.
Responsibilities
- Your primary responsibility will be to define, measure, and improve the quality of on- device machine learning technologies by developing infrastructure, automation and services which facilitate validation and qualification of these technologies.
Minimum Qualifications
- BS, MS, degree or equivalent
- 2+ years of related experience in software quality engineering
- In depth knowledge of QA practices and fundamentals
- Strong Python programming skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Machine Learning, its common practical applications, and commonly used frameworks (e.g. Keras, PyTorch, Tensorflow, Scikit-learn)
Pay & Benefits
At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $139,500 and $258,100, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.

Responsibilities
- Design, build, and operate the critical server-side components that power new communication features, taking full ownership of their architecture, quality, and reliability.
- Act as the server-side technical lead for new features, partnering with iOS, hardware, and other service teams to influence and craft the end-to-end architecture.
- Assume responsibility for the successful delivery of a feature’s backend, while acting as a key collaborator in the success of the overall feature across all layers of the stack.

Minimum Qualifications
- At least 3+ years of backend software engineering experience
- Experience in Java, Go, C#, or similar languages.
- Experience in building large scale, highly available application services.

Preferred Qualifications
- Good understanding of multi-threading, non-blocking I/O, and client-server development.

Minimum Qualifications
- 4+ years of demonstrated ability in a Data Scientist or Data Analyst role, preferably for a digital media, MarTech, digital subscription business, or technology business
- Strong proficiency with SQL, Python or R
- 4+ years applied experience in building sophisticated datasets that enable data science and BI. Experience working with structured and unstructured data stored in distributed files systems
- Solid experience working in marketing campaign measurement for both paid and non-paid campaigns
- Experience with standard marketing data science analysis to include experimental design, linear regression, clustering, survival, and quasi-causal analysis

We are looking for a research lead to guide multimodality research. You will lead the development of foundational technology that enables models to understand health and fitness data.
Responsibilities
- Lead research into health and fitness representation models and multimodal models.
- Design, prototype and scale up new architectures to improve model intelligence.
- Execute and analyze experiments autonomously and collaboratively.
- Study, debug, and optimize model performance and computational performance.
